Just shy of two weeks ago, we delivered a virtually brand new minibus to Lambeth and Southwark Mencap. They are based in West Norwood and are the leading UK charity for people with a learning disability.

Lambeth and Southwark Mencap is a registered charity managed by a board of trustees.   • Community Support service. An outreach support service for adults living independently in the community or with their family/carers. Support is tailored to meet an individual’s needs and wishes.
  • Activities; from events that are seasonal one offs through to regular weekly clubs.
  • The Multi Activity Centre, which is an alternative to the traditional day centre.
  • A project for Profound and Multiple Learning Disabled Adults, which transforms the lives of people with PMLD through therapeutic and developmental activities.
  • Computer and iPad Project. Technology is a growing part of everyday life but not knowing where to start can be quite overwhelming.

Q1: Tell us more about Lambeth & Southwark Mencap – what services do you provide?

“Lambeth and Southwark Mencap provide services to adults with learning disabilities. Some of those services include day trips, clubs and a wide range of activities”.

Q2: What are your initial thoughts on the minibus we supplied to you?

“The Mercedes Sprinter Minibus you provided us is great. Previously we had a Renault Master but it was time for an upgrade. The minibus we purchased from Access A Bus is a clean and quality vehicle”.

Q3: What type of excursions will the minibus be used for?

“It will be used most days to collect wheelchair users and to take them to the various activities we organise at Lambeth and Southwark Mencap. Those activities can range from swimming to Sunday lunch club or the 25+ club”.

Q4: How did you find the demonstration we gave on the minibus upon delivery?

“Very good and extremely helpful. The staff kindly demonstrated how to operate the wheelchair tail lift to our driver and other members of the team. They were very patient and happy to explain anything”.
